Other People's Opinions

Other People's Opinions of Me are None of My Business

I seem to be repeating this phrase to a few of my friends lately... This statement played an important role in my own personal development.

Think about that statement. Reflect what it means.

I was, at first, confused by this. What do you mean other peoples' opinions are none of my business? Seriously, why wouldn't it be my business. It is an opinion of me after all....And then it dawned on me. The only opinion that truly matters is the opinion you have of yourself.

People are either going to like you for who you are.. or they are not. We cannot please everyone in life, so we need to make sure that we please ourselves. Do you like yourself? Do you love yourself? Are you living your dreams? If not, then you are not truly happy. It is when we are filled with self-doubt and the "lack" mentality that we look outside ourselves for the opinions.

I'm not saying that it doesn't feel good to hear someone share their positive opinions.. it does! Let it be a reminder of how wonderful you are! But it also feels bad to hear when someone doesn't like you... are you going to let that bring you down? Kill your self-confidence? I'm sure not! I'm going to fall back on my own opinion of myself and remember that I love me and that is all that really matters.

Now don't forget that this also works in reverse... be careful of how you judge others and what opinions you're sharing. You do not know the ultimate purpose the Universe has for the person you are judging. Now, we are human and most likely not going to be perfect at this, but keep it forward in your mind that you do not wish to be judged. Let's share love and understanding first!

Namaste!

Jenn

sounds good and even though we all know these words - on the inside - we all forget.. it is good to be reminded :)
